Dr. Sushil Azad is the Deputy Head & Principal Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Cardiology & Adult Congenital Heart Diseases. With nearly two decades of experience in Pediatric Cardiology, Dr. Azad has performed over 4,500 interventional cardiology procedures on patients of all ages. Notably, he has successfully treated a preterm infant weighing just 1.5 kg with complex congenital heart disease in the cath lab. He specializes in addressing congenital heart disease in individuals of all ages, from neonates to adults. He played a pivotal role in developing the Pediatric Cardiology Program at Medanta and subsequently established the DNB Pediatric Cardiology program at Medanta Gurgaon. Additionally, he initiated the Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation program at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, which was later recognized as a center of excellence and the only facility in the country performing the procedure.
Dr. Sushil Azad has authored over 25 research publications and written chapters in textbooks on pediatric cardiology and echocardiography and has presented several papers at national and international conferences. He has also organized workshops on Pediatric Echocardiography at both the national and state level PEDICON.
